Castle Hotels – Camelot Castle, England
The Mappin family, who travelled to Tintagel, and British artist Ted Stourton bought Camelot Castle as a family home in 1999. In January 2006, a restoration project began that is both special and unique in the history of restoration. Shortly after acquiring the property, they decided to open part of their home to public guests, and to this day, staying at Camelot Castle has been described as a “Downton Abbey Experience for Everyman.”

Designed by Silvanus Trevail, the leading architect of the Victorian era, the castle was opened at Easter 1899.
Since its opening, Camelot Castle has been one of the most sought-after destinations and accommodations in the Victorian and Edwardian world, where celebrities of the era spent weeks. Among other things, it served as a filming location for famous films such as Knights of the Round Table and Dracula. Camelot Castle has been inspiring artists and beauty lovers for decades.
Camelot Castle was purchased in 1999 with the aim of becoming a family home. John and Irina Mappin noticed that others were enjoying their time there. In light of this, they decided to share the experience of Camelot Castle with others so that more people could enjoy the wonderful location.
Today, more than two decades later, the castle is still the family’s home, but hundreds of people have had the opportunity to stay at Camelot Castle.
To this day, Camelot Castle is managed by the family’s private staff and they do a great job of serving their guests from all over the world.

This hotel is located in Tintagel, 800 metres from Merlin Cave Beach. This castle hotel features a garden, restaurant, free private parking, terrace and bar. The hotel is close to many notable sights, about 1.5 km from Bossiney Cove Beach and about 1 km from Tintagel Castle.
All rooms at the hotel come with a wardrobe, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. Rooms have a kettle, while some rooms have a kitchen equipped with a fridge, dishwasher and oven. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.
