Karim in the Love of Rumi

Karim in the Love of Rumi

Sufism is the radiant path of love —
the flowering of the soul from deep within the heart. It is not just a tradition, but a living current of divine longing. Sufism opens the heart to truth and guides us to feel our soul’s presence. It teaches us not just to believe in love — but to become love itself, to live and breathe love in all we do.

Karim about his experience with Rumi:

I remember my Sufi teacher once saying:
“Sufism is a galaxy of light, and our souls are the stars dancing within it.”

And the more I walk the Sufi path, the more I understand his words.
Look at the Sufi lovers in dhikr — the sacred remembrance circles.
Though their bodies are seated on the ground, their hearts are ascending through the skies of divine love, meeting under the Throne of the Beloved.
In those moments, the veil between the worlds grows thin, and we begin to truly feel what it means to belong — not just to the earth, but to the eternal.

Karim and the Love of Rumi, Kriszta and KarimA few years ago, I had the blessing of undertaking a Rumi pilgrimage with my beloved, Kriszta. Together, we traveled to Turkey, but it wasn’t just a trip — it was a sacred invitation from the spirit of Rumi, the great Sufi master. In the Sufi tradition, they say the saints call their lovers not with words, but with a pull on the heart. And so I believe we didn’t choose Konya — Rumi chose us.

The moment I entered Mevlana Rumi’s shrine, it felt as though my soul recognized its home. There was an unseen wind lifting my heart, an energy of longing and light surrounding every step. This was no ordinary place — it was a sanctuary of Sufi love. A sacred station of remembrance, where the words of Rumi still echo through the silence.

Karim and the Love of Rumi, interior

As I stood before Rumi’s tomb, I felt a presence — not imaginary, but real, alive, and radiant. It was as if Rumi’s soul reached through time to whisper to my heart.
A soft yet powerful call echoed through me:

“Come, come, whoever you are.
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving — it doesn’t matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you’ve broken your vows a thousand times.
Come, yet again, come, come.”

These sacred words of Rumi were not just poetry — they were a doorway.
And in that instant, I stepped through it, not with reason, but with surrender — the Sufi way.

Then I felt it: a golden thread of love rising from Rumi’s resting place, a beam of luminous Sufi light stretching into the sky, connecting beyond what the eyes can see. Only hearts touched by love could perceive it.

That thread led us to another sacred place — the shrine of Shams of Tabriz, Rumi’s beloved, his mirror, and his Sufi teacher. It was through Shams that the flame of divine love ignited in Rumi’s heart. These two Sufi souls remain united beyond time, guiding lovers of truth through the mysteries of love and longing.

Rumi had opened a door — not to knowledge, but to pure experience, a Sufi gateway to love as a living, breathing reality. He invited us to taste the essence of love, to drink from its ocean, and to be forever changed.

In that moment, a single drop of Rumi’s love was placed in my heart,
and that drop became an endless ocean. I felt like I was walking inside a sacred dream — a dream I never wanted to end. And so, like a faithful Sufi lover, I followed the thread, step by step, until it led me to the shrine of Shams of Tabriz.

There, I witnessed the paradise of peace. I saw the face of love itself —
not in form, but in essence. This was the sacred meeting point of Sufi lovers,
the place where hearts return to the Beloved, and the eternal light of Rumi’s Sufi path continues to shine.
